Piercing ‘Art’ and body jewellery have come a very long way over the past decade or so.
Dermal piercings are not really for first timers, or for the faint of heart.
Dermals are a much more modern type of piercing and unlike traditional piercing which have an entry and exit point via piercing, dermals require a small incision instead, and a base piece known as an ‘anchor’ is inserted under the skin.
Inter changeable stones (and other body jewellery pieces) can then be screwed onto the head of the anchor which is outside of the body, to give that decorative ‘floating gem’ appearance.
Using multiple dermals can achieve a highly styled and totally customised look, ranging from simple and quite elegant to edgey and extreme. Dermals can be placed anywhere on the body so the possibilities really are limitless!
The style and position of your dermal piercing could be used to compliment another more traditional piercing, or even a tattoo.
Dermals do however need to be surgically removed as desired, which can sometimes be done by a piercing specialist, and sometimes it’s a job for a nurse in a hospital setting. This of course can also leave a tiny scar at the site of the healed dermal piercing.
More and more people choosing to adorn their bodies with jewellery, and finding a good piercing artist opens a whole world of possibilities, you are sure to find a way to express your own unique individualism.
Choosing the right body jewellery can help create a striking look that’s as individual as you are. Body jewellery for the septum can really tailor your look from ‘edgy’ to ethnic, hippy or cute.
